VBS presents a new idea collectible icon: LEGO® Ninjago Kai reimagined as an 18-inch-tall handcrafted wooden figure, created from reclaimed oak. The project transforms the familiar language of the LEGO minifigure into a sculptural object, combining playful character design with the warmth, tactility, and permanence of real wood.
Standing approximately 18 inches (45.7 cm) tall, the Kai figure preserves the recognizable proportions and geometric character of a classic minifigure while translating its components into precisely crafted oak. The sculpture celebrates the natural color of oak, letting the grain, knots, subtle tonal variations, and tactile surface become the figure's visual identity. Instead of using artificial paints, VBS wants to use the materials' natural beauty to create a minimalist, architecturally inspired character.
