The Grace Community Center (GCC) in Sunset District, San Francisco, is envisioned as the second campus building for San Francisco Bible Church, serving as a vibrant community hub that supports worship, education, fellowship, recreation, and hospitality. It consists of a six-story building above one level of underground parking, accommodating more than 600 occupants while providing flexible spaces that foster connection across all generations.
The program is organized to support a diverse range of ministries and community activities. Key spaces include a Worship Hall, Gymnasium and Music Practice facilities, Children's Care and Learning Center, Senior Fellowship Area, Mission Guest and Pastor Housing, and a Sky Courtyard that serves as a shared outdoor gathering space. A series of landscaped terraces and open-air circulation routes connect multiple levels, encouraging movement, social interaction, and visual connections throughout the building. These elevated outdoor spaces extend the community experience beyond the interior while allowing visitors to enjoy San Francisco's sunny days and views along the Taraval Street commercial corridor toward the Pacific Ocean.

The architectural expression emphasizes openness, warmth, and environmental responsibility. Large expanses of high-performance, energy-efficient glazing define the porous ground level and upper volumes, maximizing daylight penetration while enhancing thermal comfort and reducing operational energy demand. The façade is conceived as a high-performance, sustainable building envelope composed primarily of anodized copper-toned aluminum, recycled copper, and high-performance glazing. Custom anodized aluminum panels in a warm copper finish (AluCopper 02) create a distinctive architectural identity, enriching the building with depth, texture, and changing reflections throughout the day. The exterior cladding incorporates recycled copper with approximately 80% recycled content, supporting the project's commitment to circular economy principles, material longevity, and reduced environmental impact.
